Octavia 20V Turbo .. suggestions for power boost

Featured Replies

I have quite a few cars but what concerns us are the Skodas that i own--- i have a Skoda Laura L&K 1.9 Diesel Automatic and A Skoda Octavia 20V Turbo Manual....

I've recently developed a taste for track racing that happens here in Delhi on F1 track and i've been taking my Octavia 20V turbo ..

its great there.. love the pick up .. unfortunately a bit too heavy for track.. so the last time i went there.. i smoked my newly installed break shoes..

now what i need help with is.. that its a car i can spare only for track days.. and i'd love to do something about it without spending a fortune on it..

nothing that i'd like to do to it cosmetically.. but i would like to add some raw power and grip.. so i'm supposing i need to change the tyres, rim, brake system and few things in the engine like air intake , exhaust (don't know if i'm required to change this at all- though would prefer not to.. like i said before.. don't wish to spend a fortune on this.) and Turbo charger if required to be changed... which i think is required..

so anyone who could help me out with this for i have not much info about how to go about it..

PS- i don't want to create a complicated car that's always parked in a workshop.. so whatever suggestions you do give, please do keep in mind, i'd like it to be a comfortable road car that is not a showoff and that i can take on long trips without being worried about it breaking down in the middle of nowhere ..

looking forward to hear from you experts

cheers

Decent induction kit with a 3in cold air feed

Turbo back exhaust with decat or sports cat if you want to keep it road legal,

Bigger brakes would be an advantage as i find even my 312's on my vrs get fried after a few laps

For a good basic track car i would sort out the handling and braking of the car as best i could for the money i had.

1 fit some ferodo ds2500 front brake pads and some good qaulity discs

2 fit good performance tyres

3 change the front anti roll bar and fit one to the rear as the vrs dosent have one fitted, this is a must do item, these mods alone will make a difference on the track

4 fit an audi s3 front upper and lower strut braces

5 change the suspension for a kit dependant on what you want and how much you want to spend

6 re map the ecu for power upgrade to 200bhp

7 fit a good turbo back exhaust like jetex or piper

this is just a rough guide but 1-3 are must do,s for the track ive done track days in lots of different cars its great fun but i do miss my renault williams clio awsome car.

thanks Volvomeg.. thanks Willy ...

your suggestions did give me a sense of what's required to be done..

ok.. i really dont' have experts like you around me .. so it'd be great if you could support me with more precise details and then i shall try to source the required stuff and actually modify the car.

please do keep in mind the expense.. and as much as i'm ready to change the exhaust, i wouldn't want the car to be a loud roaring machine.. i prefer to be discreet .. besides i love the idea of stealth.. nothing like beating people in a race when they never expected anything close to it..

thank you again for your support. really do appreciate it.

cheers

Does anyone remap there?

Hi I'm sure Shark here in the UK could sort you out with the items required. A turbo back exhaust from milltek either decat or sports cat will give a nice burble on tickover. And sounds excellent when giving it the beans. But by no means too loud. And when cruising it sounds the same as standard. Also Shark can send their STS unit which allows you to download a map via the hand held device to your ECU. Stage one will see about 200 BHP with a huge jump in torque. As long as car is in good shape. With a VW golf R32 front ARB and a Neuspeed 28mm rear ARB. And some Ferrodo DS2500 front brake pads you will have transformed the standard octy VRS.

It's worth popping Shark Performance an email to see if they can supply and ship your required items. Have fun.

Awesome gti http://www.awesomegti.com are good for a one stop shop for tuning parts

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

miltec exhaust sounds like the standard exhaust not loud at all and so dose the jetex system so if you want stealth these are the exhausts for you ,i would personaly go for the jetex exhaust excellent quality exhaust with standard sound and they do a 200cell sports cat .

Shark are Miltek exhaust dealers and I'm sure if you were to order a full exhaust and STS box + map they would also be able to source and send ARB's out to you.
