Headlight again

Featured Replies

Hi again,

Got a new headlight in the end from the Skoda dealer (Gordon Lamb - Derby) However, after giving them the chassis number and registration I waited till the Saturday to collect it

Waited till tonight to fit it due to work and weather, put the bulbs in ready, went to push it back in, but seemed to be stiff to go in, but when the screw went through the hole, which was not long enough!! It did not follow the shape of the car, so decided to pull it out to see if it was sitting right, and try again, but would not come out!! Struggled and got it out, tried again and the same! Was about 1/2 inch short of the body and sticking out at the bottom, took it out with difficulties, and replaced with the old one, went straight in and seated right

Question is is the VRS headlight different to other model octavia's

Thanks

Nope, seems very strange!

Try comparing them side by side. You should be able to spot a 1/2" difference.

Didn't the mk1 Superb have similar shaped headlamps, and could there be a mix up?

Thanks,

Looked pretty much the same, until trying to get it in, shall ring them tomorrow and see what they have to say?

The sticker on the light had different numbers, but that could just be the serial number l suppose

Cheers again

Maybe compared to the pre-facelift Octavia, but even then are they are a very different shape. The OP's car has the facelift lights.

Something must be amiss here

Dunno about the Superb but the Octavia lights have Octavia written on them.

The MkII facelift Octavia and MkII Superb both have the model name written on them.

Neither of the MkI's (or MkII pre-FL Octavia) do though...

The headlight does have Octavia written on the side, just hope it was a mistake on their part? Just means another trip (24 miles again)

Can you post a picture of the replacement light?

Ask them to try and fit it, see if they come across the same issue?

Doesn't surprise me with Clock/Gordon lamb TBH. The old light should have the part number stamped on it somewhere. You could also try TPS in derby, I have always found them very helpful.

Silver1011,

That is my intention, will ask them to get another light and let them try and fit the headlight! But after taking both headlights out numerous times I am sure I know how to put one back in with ease

See what they have to say about the problem?

The photos I took are a bit dark, due to the time of night, dont fancy getting it stuck again!!

Seems like the black rod is not straight.I have had a a pattern replacement ( returned for a genuine Hella one as 1st one leaked) both fitted perfect and the pattern one had a metal rod instead of plastic . I took mine out twice a month to clean behind / a smooth action no force was needed
