Where are my Glow Plugs?

Featured Replies

Hi

I would like to change the glow plugs on my Octavia 1.9 TDi, but I'm not sure where they are exactly. I have searched the forum and read many posts, but I'm still a little confused.

Do I or don't I need to take the Cam Cover off to get at the glow plugs? Seems a little strange to have to do that.

Anybody got some pictures of the glow plugs on a BXE engine type?

Thanks.

Yes it does sound strange. But if you had a 2.0 TDI PD you'd have to do that as the glow plugs are next to the PD injectors in the head.

Luckily on the 1.9 PD they are along the front of the engine as Mike says.

How often should you change them? I have a 2.0 cr engine. Is it as often as spark plugs?

Thanks in advance.

They are not a service item. Just change them when they break.......which hopefully on your CR won't be for a long time!
