Hai

no, octavia is one car, rapid is another...they are not the same, so the supsension will not be the same either!!!

The rapid is based on the mk4 platform I thought so perhaps surely? I have no knowledge of the new one but I presume the spring rate and dampening rate could be completely wrong. You would certainly be the first person to try though so I think you would be entirely on your own.

Different platforms.

Mk1 Octavia is A4 (PQ34)

New European Rapid is A05+

Wouldn't of thought anything is common, apart from maybe the general suspension strategy.

is i agree with bodge, i dont think a 2012 rapide is based on a mk4 chassis?

even if they physically fit, which they may if they are based on the same chassis, they wont be weighted correctly so its still a no no imo

As others, I'd thought the Rapid was on the A5 platform, so the rear suspension is completely different.

Even if we're wrong, you'd still need the standard ride height, spring free lengths and rates, damper rates in bounce and rebound, and ARB rates both ends to be similar before it would actually work rather than just physically bolt up.

Fair play - I was sure I'd read somewhere they were using the mk4 chassis for the rapid. Or was that just the mk4 factories?

Front end is similar to Fabia 2 / Mk1 Octy sport suspension, but I doubt it is a direct fit for shocks, certainly damping will be different due to different weights. Rear end is Mk1 Octy/Golf 4 with some updates (and a new body shape).

Overall, Rapid is a Roomster (hybrid Polo/Golf chassis) in more eye pleasing Octavia-like shape, despite platform name changes the many similarities are there (check wheelbase, wheel size, fuel tank design and capacity, suspension layout and so on and so forth).
