Fault keeps coming back

Featured Replies

Hi i have had faulty stat changed and coolant temp sensor yet fault keeps comin back. The code reader is only a basic one. Does it have to be a proper vag one to clear code properly? Stat was defo faulty as cant beleive difference in heat! Dont want to take to skoda as will have pants pulled down! Any ideas?

Have you changed the thermostat

Did you use genuine parts? Aftermarket sensors are known to play up

Possible fault in the wiring

Yes changed the thermostat. And yes genuine parts. Any idea wat bit of wiring to look at?

Im in Suffolk should you ever come this way. But I dont think VAG throws an error if its not readign right. Mine used to short to ground so did thow an error.

Oh one think that did happen on mine was when I had erratic readings it turned out my water pump impeller had sheared off.

Erratic readings on temp dial? Mine sits at 90 since changing the stat so that was defo faulty

So whats the fault? I thought it was incorrect reading on the dial.

Sorry its the actual fault code p1296 sends engine management light on. Error in mapped cooling system. Stat was changed and made a world of difference. Had fault reset but light keeps coming back.
