DAB 'integrated fit'

Featured Replies

Popped into my dealer today as I really want DAB and noticed they were selling the Highway kit on ebay for £200 so was hoping to get it for £200 fitted, they can't, so anyway got chatting to my salesman and he said he would speak to an audio guy they use and see what he suggested.

Anyway, he suggested the 'hidden' DAB adaption, you know the one, the one that is in Halfords, on ebay etc, basically the box hides behind the dash, then the aerial is a windscreen sticker type, and then its done so as you have it tuned into a preset on the headunit and is controllable from the MFSW. He said you still get teh station name etc on the display and maxi dot.

I am guessing this is the unit http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_874533_langId_-1_categoryId_265865 anyway, I know you can get it from Halfords for £150 and have them do the fitting for an extra £30 but the guy I am thinking of using will supply and fit for the same price.

It will be linked up to a Columbus Sat Nav and he says he has done them on the Columbus previously and it works pretty well.

Just wondered if anyone has this unit and how good or bad is it?

I spoke to a chap in an audio shop about dab a few weeks ago. He said the dab signal is poor anyway and the window stickers are usless so you'd be throwing money away.

You need a proper external aerial to get a decent signal

TRY DAB ON WHEELS

Definitely a proper external aerial. Mine came from DAB on Wheels, 20 quid including 4m of cable. I mounted it on the tailgate.
