Looking to buy a fabia vrs

Featured Replies

Hi all newbie here currently own my second corsa c looking to buy a fabia vrs just needing some advice and help from current owners what to look out for faults leaks any info, don't want to buy blind like I did with my first corsa and buy a shed, I have been told cambelt and rear footwell

Well I would say try to buy an unchipped car if you can or if it has been done make sure that it has been done by a reputable specialist. Make sure it has had the correct 505.01 5w/40 weight oil (essential to keep the unit injector followers and cam lobes in good condition). Other things would be to make sure it has has the cambelt and water pump done (if not haggle £300 of the price which is what a good independent would charge you) and look for general good stewardship of the car.

I know this sounds bad but the type of owner counts as well. These are increasingly coming into the hands of young boy racer types as they get cheaper and, although some probably treat their cars with respect, I know what I was like at that age :)

That's what I'm trying to avoid is a ragged one bought plenty of ragged cars in my time

Test drive quite a few and shop around. Look for any smoke when you really give it some on test drive. Not the usual black smoke but any to suggest turbo problems. Tyres are fairly expensive as they are a unusual size compared to other cars so use this as a potential bargaining tool if they need any

I've just made the move from Corsa C to Fabia VRS

The Corsa had the drivers footwell full of water and the Fabia has the rear footwell full of water lol, seems like it should be easier to sort out though, just waiting until I get some spare time to do it
