badge mod

Featured Replies

you used to be able to take off the old ford badges and sand the back with wet and dry back to the clear layer to remove the colour layer, then paint with whatever colour I wanted. the result was the logo would keep all the silver and text etc, but the background was a different colour.

before I go pulling off badges, does anyone know if skoda badges are made the same?

I know you can get aftermarket ones, but they are just printed. this method used to look oem, but a different colour.

Don't worry, got off my lasy backside and braved the cold. They are coloured from the front. Looks like there is a clear lamination that is delaminating on mine. Wondering if a bit of heat willpeel it off so i can overpaint the logo and then clear coat.

Will have a go, as they look awful anyway and need replacing. Will put up pics if it's a success. If not, I will just disappear from this post in embarrassment

If your car is still under warranty then you can get the badges replaced. Very common on Yeti rear badges.

Well beyond warranty, I am afraid....

well, delaminated it, kept the black background and chrome lettering, but the green skoda logo is now race blue to match the car. kept the leafy bit green, as it is v delicate to recolour and I kinda like the contrast.

will get pics up once I have finished laquering it.

not bad, considering I was going to bin it and get a new one, a bit different to all of the aftermarket badges out there too.

And on the car. Dark blue carbon wrap on the way for the grille surround. I like it

Nice! Well done, I like it :). My car is green so happy with the green badge, but if you like colour coding etc, looks good! Nice bit of DIY.

That looks bloody good!
