I have a 53 Octavia estate. It has an intermittent fault where I'm driving and it completely cuts out.

It feels like you have stalled it but it does this whilst in motion.

It will not allow you to restart again for about 10-15 minutes after cut out and as I have a family and do a lot of motor way miles this is scary.

I have replaced the battery as thought drop in voltage may have played a part but this cured for 200 miles, also checked relay for fuel pump but its new grey version with no apparent contacts eroded etc.

Any help will be gratefully received. Did think about anti shudder valve but this wouldn't cut you out whilst driving just would stop you starting...... Help

You need to establish whether it's electrical or fuel related. When it cuts out and you switch the ignition back on do the dash lights come on? if so does the engine crank but not fire up? Is it petrol or Diesel?

Hi yes dash all comes back up and it cranks but doesn't kick in almost like it is starved of fuel. But after 10-15 or so it kicks in. That's why I checked the relay. It's a diesel 1.9 turbo.
