First time with a DA.

Featured Replies

Washed my car today ready for a polish tomorrow. I'll be using a DA for the very first time and would appreciate a little advice:

I understand that before using the brand new polishing pad (and later the finishing pad) I should `mist` it with a little QD. My question is, should I do that each and every time I use the pads?

Many thanks.

Mike.

I've never misted a pad. Don't see the point if its got polish on it. :)

I used my new Megs G220v2 DA yesterday for the first time and very impressed with the results. used on a silver merc e280 with minimal very light scratching, used gtecniq p1 with yellow megs pad. First time out of the packet sprayed with Quick/Rpaid detailer to "moisten" the pad then applied the p1 polish and got to work. Cleanest the car has probably every been after some collinite 845 on top.

Thank you for your input, Dexter.

Yours is the same machine as I purchased recently.

I must say I'm really looking forward to using it for the first time tomorrow.

Here's hoping that I'm as successful as you were yesterday.

Regards.

Mike.

As i'm sure many will say, it's all about experimentation without being in danger of harming the bodywork/ paint. I mean i'm sure I could've got an even better finish than I did, maybe quicker or using different quantities and speeds. But when I finally get the hang of it for sure it'll be a good day :) Plus it's great fun! :giggle:

Many thanks to ChrisRS for his discount code help on the G220v2 purchase and also thanks to all for endless helpful advice!

Good luck

Use a bright light to check the correction as you go and keep the pad moving

As the polish begins to change and work out..thats the time to move to another section
