Even when I fill up completely with fuel the gauge does not show it is completely full.. I tried to add more by pressing the fuel pump lever again till it clicks off but still no joy. The fuel gauge needle is just shy of the full mark.. by two increments.. what do you think is happening ?

Next fill up try to brim it. I filled up once at a M orrisons and the diesel was so frothy the gauge was shy of full, next brim with BP back to normal.

It is also possible you have a faulty sender unit in the tank, easily checked by a dealer

How much fuel can you get in from empty?
