Difficult to say as you've not told us which engine it is. 110, 140 or 170HP?

Sorry , it is the 110bhp on a 12 plate

When we first test drove a Yeti 3 years ago it was a 110 2wd Se.

All perfectly acceptable apart from rather pedestrian performance.

My only caution would be not to pay anywhere near over the odds for it.

It is the lowest powered 2.0 not in 4x4,and mid spec SE trim.

We're on our second Yeti, and looking forward to a third one (facelift perhaps)....

What sort of profile is your driving. i.e. regular short journey's, middling commute. regular motorway/a road trips?

We are retired and love to get out and about , we live near the M1 , so we use this road for say 60% of our driving , other driving ? town use , as we have an Octavia 1.6 tdi hatch so the re-gen would not be an issue , was just wondering if anyone has one and how they feel about the Yeti 2.0 tdi 110bhp 2wd

Any of the engines would be OK. I have a 170 which I probably don't need but it's what I want as I like to give it some welly now and then.

Our 110 has 4x4 with the six speed box and I have no complaints regard it's performance whatsoever. Previously owned an early 140 SE 4x4 and before that a 140 Golf 4motion and IMHO there's not much difference in overtaking etc.

Economy wise after almost 30k I'm averaging 45mpg; would think the 2wd will be nudging towards 50. Engine is fairly quite and smooth and will happily run all day at motorway speeds; took ours out to CZ in 2011, 980 miles in about 19 hours, with 4 adults and a soft box on the roof. Later on the trip we went into the Austrian Alps, again performance was good although motorway economy with the roof box did suffer a little.

The 12 plate Yeti will have many of the improvements brought in since production start, particularly to suspension and engine, so a good choice. If your buying second hand would advise looking at very late 60 plate on and if possible with ESP.

Mine is a 2wd 2.0 110 SE. I had a 170CR Superb before, so there was a big performance difference between the two. The only time I really notice it, however, is that the Yeti takes longer to get up to speed on a dual carriageway when you start from (for example) a roundabout. It will bowl along quite happily at 70-75 for mile after mile, I feel confident overtaking with it, and the average fuel consumption is not far off 50mpg. I have never felt I was struggling to keep up, or that the car was dramatically underpowered.

Downsides? The SE spec is quite basic. You get the important stuff, like climate control, reversing sensors and cruise control, but no auto headlights, wipers, puddle lights or any of that stuff. If you want any of that then you'll need to stretch to an Elegance.

Bought mine as a demonstrator, an early 60, 2000mls,in Se trim, well satisfied with it after almost 2 years, however my reason for acquiring was ease of access for my wife. However originally a problem with smoothness of engine at low speeds , maybe my approach, but having had 2 x Berlingo's before both oil burners i think not. Problem solved by installing a Racetech/racechip box wich put power up to 140ish, that solved the engine problem, which might well have been solved by more miles on the clock. Box improved economy(10%) and also gave some omphhhh to overtaking, picking its heels up so to speak!

No problem recommending the 110 in Se trim as the box cost about £120 which in terms of the overall price was a very small amount to pay for an improvement!

The CR110 remaps well to around 170bhp if you want more performance. (Shark Performance in Mansfield) also gives improved fuel economy.

Downside? it only has a 5 speed gearbox like the Greenline model. (the 4x4 version has a 6 speed 'box)

SE spec is fine. It depends if you want all the godies in the Elegance or not. The SE+ is a good spec as well.

The Yeti holds its value well, so they are not cheap second hand buys.

Apologies, not sure where you're from, but OP is in UK.

In UK, those things you mention are all options on the SE, so you don't have to stretch to an Elegance. (Well, at least the auto lights / wipers are - can't remember whether the puddle lights were an option or not - there was lots of "any of that stuff" though :hi: )

Must be a different perception of "basic" as I think the SE is quite well specced.

Agree Graham, he needs to come and drive my Marlin, now that is basic, but great fun!

Cold right arm bum pains etc

Agree, "Basic" is a relative term. I will rephrase it to "Compared to the Superb I had before, the Yeti is a bit basic".It's one of the things I wanted actually: I'm surprisingly happy to work out that it's dark/raining for myself, and I don't miss the leather seats either. I do miss the coming home and puddle lights though, and I am surprised that Bluetooth isn't standard on a car of this price. I am in the UK by the way, so we are talking about UK spec.

One other quick point, the OP leads me to believe they've spotted an existing car, so we don't know what options it may have. Mine is pretty much bog standard SE spec, with metallic paint.

It might be useful to put your location in your details here

Solves any confusion then.

I've had my SE 110 2WD for 2 years and I'm very happy with it. We also use it to tow a 1000kg caravan.

Main reasons for the choice of 2WD and 110 bhp were cost as I couldn't justify the extra.

Thanks to all , yes the Yeti is the se format with no extras , however i find this spec will suit my needs , and like g6zru I also intend to tow a small caravan .I again have to thank for all the replies
