Varioflex - nit picking..

Featured Replies

Just outside having a play with the rear seats, a couple of observations;

Firstly, with the headrest removed the centre portion of the seat doesn't fully fold back without hitting the rear centre console air vents and thus doesn't rest in line with the other two seats. This would eventually damage the vent/plastics. A design flaw?

Secondly, with the centre seat removed and the two outers pushed inwards, they don't fully centre (i.e touch each other) and thus there seems to be very little point in doing this as there is little or no gain in storage space.

Finally, my only real small niggle with the entire car, the rear hatch never closes properly first time! - always needs a good slam (which I don't like doing).

Not bad if that's all I can find to critique ;-)

With regards the middle seat, unclip it at the bottom and bungee clip it to front seat headrest.

No it doesn't fold as far forward as the others. Been discussed many times before.

Pushing the 2 seats towards each other gives the rear seat passengers much more shoulder room, but my grown up daughter didn't like it so I put the middle seat back in.

Stuff from the boot can more easily come through the gaps as well.

What irritates me the most is not being able to slide the middle seat, almost negating the ability to move the outer ones forward if you want to carry something large which would fit easily with them all slid forwards.

Sent using whatever device I'm using at the time.

Totally agree about the centre consol getting in the way of the middle folding seat.

As for the boot it will get better over time I always used to have to slam to get it to close. It's been discussed many times on here, it's because the seals are new. It will get better.

I just wish I had a Yeti to nitpick about. I hate waiting :wall:

The middle rear seat can be made to be almost folded upright after the headrest has been removed. It requires a second lift of the handle, the rubber straps hold it in place. It is tight up against the console.

I have the spare wheel option, all 3 seats folded flat (not up against the fronts) gives a nice flat run straight through so is my fave option. As I said in the o.p. - not complaining, just observations; I'm very happy with the whole package.

Finally, my only real small niggle with the entire car, the rear hatch never closes properly first time! - always needs a good slam (which I don't like doing).

Your first two items have already been answered. The third has been answered in this thread:

So leave a door open, or drop the windows a tiny bit with the key fob, before you close the hatch and voila your hatch won't need slamming. (Just remember to close the windows again as you walk away! :hi: )

The first two items were observations, not seeking answers; the third - thanks! Just went outside and tried ; perfect, not an isdue now I know the solution :-)

Difficult for us latecomers to trawl ALL the old threads (given it would mean not talking to the other half or a few weeks while burried in the forum) - but I just found (via thread links) a subject about general dislikes/niggles that is really useful and might have been good to make a sticky....

.... Sorry, Pinned on this forum not sticky...

Page 75 in the manual according to honest john.

Teach me to look at the manual one day i guess.
