Revs not dropping quick enough between gear changes

Featured Replies

I noticed that when my 1.8 TSI gets warm the revs only slowly come down between gear changes, especially 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th and the car seems to 'wallow' into gear, is this a common problem ? . I bought a diagnostics reader a while back and this shows no error codes, the cars had new coil packs, filters and plugs and yet the car still does this, I usually change gear between 2000 and 3000 rpm, anyone any ideas...

Maybe you need to drive it a bit harder and change at a higher point in the rev range I never had a problem with mine in the 2 years and 98,000 miles I did in it.

They do like to be reved a bit.

Maybe, I just have quite a relaxed driving style and the roads on my drive to work are not exactly high speed one's..
