Stone damage repair advice

Featured Replies

Hi Chaps,

Could do with some advice please. The Blackline sufferd a direct hit from either a large uneven shaped stone or a piece of loose tarmac thrown up by another car on the M5 on Sunday. It's left 2 scratches on the top of my O/s wing above and behind the headlight that go all the way to bare metal, the longest being about 10mm and a number of smaller scratches in a small area just behind these where the offending object has tumbled. The impact has also left a small dent where the 2 big scratches are. :'(

What's the best route to getting this fixed? will someone like Chipsaway be able to do a good job that's invisible and long lasting?

If anyone has and experience of getting similar problems fixed in North worcestershire, good or bad that would help too

Thanks in advance

A photo would be helpful.

Hopefully this will help- I've put a 20p piece next to the smaler scratches to give some scale, the 2 larger ones are towards the headlight

cheers

By the looks of it a detailer could fill, sand and polish that. Would prefer to do that than go to the chips away type of vans.

Cheers phil. My dealer doesn't do bodywork so sent me to their VAG approved bodyshop. Obviously very professional set up. They quoted a very professional £475.00 too! This included £50 to 'reconfigure' the headlight as it would ned to be removed. Not sure if he was having me on or didn't realise the vRS only had standard h1,7 bulbs and as I've replaced the OE ones with brighter ones without any problems so this clearly doesn't need doing as you have to remove the headlight to do this-may e he thought they were xenons or HIDs No matter that's more than SWMBO will sanction. Tried a local bodyshop I used a number of years ago when SWMBO crunched a sill on our Mondeo and they quoted £150 which is more like it and not much more than chipsaway would quote. I'll have to leave it overnight so sounds like they'll do a reasonable job, just got to confirm it'll be 'invisible' and what guarentee they offer as I hadn't got time to ask about the details and book it in.
