Stone chip in Windscreen

As luck would have it I have suffered a stone chip in my windscreen dead centre of the rain sensor square. The question is, will filling it suffice as it is out of the vision area, but will it affect the operation of the sensors? At the moment with the chip there appears to be no ill effects.
