bodywork warranty against corrosion

Featured Replies

is their such a thing?apologies if this is an idiot question.

but i recently purchased an 06 vrs and their seems to be some small surface corrosion near both rear arches.

quite shocked by this as i had a 13 year ld car that had none and didnt even occur to me to scrutinise the bodywork for corrosion before i bought it.my fault probably.

i know some manufacturers offer warranty on paint and corrosion?

any ideas?

thanksss

ill annoy the utter **** out of them till they give me something :) free service?...anything...7 year old car with 2 near identical spots of corrosion.poor show tbh

If the paint is already broken then you won't have much luck as they will claim that it was caused by external damage, something like a stone chip (which to be fair is quite likely). If the corrosion is bubbling under the paint but has not yet broken the paint you stand a good chance of getting it sorted under warranty provided the paint specialist that comes to look at it is satisfied it is original paint. We've had warranty work like that done on the boot lid of our last Fabia, and on the wheel arch of an Audi A6.

It probably (more than likely) as stated above caused by stone chips. The chances of an 06 car with modern corrosion protection rusting through from the other side is highly unlikely. There is one possibility and that is both 1/4's have been badly (very) repaired or at worst, badly replaced. That being the case, the costs are unfortunately down to you.

went today, the chap was out with the paint gauge.claimed the car had been in a shunt and had a new bumper.but on further inspection the outer sill had bubbling under paint near the rear passenger door.i said to the guy it must have been a big shunt as he claimed the paint gauge was showing up 00 readings which indicated cataloy.rear bumper and outer sill ( if what he said is to be believed) would indicate more than a shunt and probably a right off.gauge was showing an inconsistent reading through the whole lower left of the car/boot lid/roof/drivers door....was a joke to be fair.tbh its very confusing and really just an attempt to fob me off with some crap i can imagine.who knows.i await further information by email or call back.

:)

on saying this im not mechanically minded before anyone pipes in...just cant see why it would be on inconsistant spots through the car...with varied readings all over the car.

if the gauge readings were 'proof' as such
