Brembo LCR Calipers

Featured Replies

Do you necessarily need to run 323mm discs with these? The pads appear to be the same height so was wondering if the discs could be 312mm?

Please explain

The LCR caliper can be used with an OEM 312mm disk, as they're the same thickness - ie it'll fit in between the pads

However, you'd need to buy/make a smaller caliper carrier to account for the smaller diameter of the disk - ie a carrier which will place the caliper closer in to the hub

By the same token, if you wanted to fit a 330mm x 25mm disk you'd need to place the caliper further out

Why run them with 312mm disks?

The callipers are that big anyway just use the 323mm disks as it will still go under a 17"rim (some will need spacers)

Plus you get more torque from the bigger brake disk and the contact patch is less iirc so wont work as well on a 312mm disk?

Added bonus. The lcr kit is awesome. Well priced and bolt on. No hassle lol

coz of the cost of 323 disc vs added torque.

the big adv of lcr kit is pistons and better contact between disc and pad but i think the 312 size is adequate

Billy raises a good point

Purely on cost grounds, if you've got 17" wheels stock spec pagid/mintex disk & pads bundles from ebay can be had for circa £150

If you're v.lucky you might find one of 312mm carriers 2nd - good luck though - v.rare

No idea of cost to have a custom carrier machined

and was hoping smaller disc and carriers would mean no spacers

'fraid not

the need for spacers are due to the increased width of the caliper body

The LCR gets round this by using a wheel designed for extra space.

I thought (not 100% sure) the 312's were only 25mm thick but 323's were 28mm??. Would that mean there is an issue with worn pads making pistons very close to popping out??

Like i said, not 100% on that.

Cost wise fred they lcr is cheaper. Std ebc discs and bog std pagid pads which are 25ish pounds work one hell of a lot better than the std stuff.

Its the calliper not disc that is the trouble. Or get the lcr rims or s3 rims. That way no spacers lol.

Wish I hadnt sold my lcr brakes now managed to get som s3 rims for the fabia.

yep. if only i had bought your lcr calipers, and your wheels...

that's the problem right there: i would need to buy new alloys, just to be able to fit calipers. which is silly money

you bought that v8 yet?

Na mate. Will do one day but am under strict orders atm.

You fitted the box yet lol?
