I bought mine from a breakers on eBay for about £40 delivered. I would recommend one, they'll also help protect the IC pipes and help keep the engine bay clean. They'll help to keep drag down and maximise pressure differential across the radiator and intercooler which maximises airflow.

They're just a bit of plastic and won't protect the sump from any damage. They help keep the engine bay clean and stop crap getting thrown up.

I'm replacing mine for all the reasons Ben said, worth having IMO. Although last time I checked they were sub £40 new.

Also offers some noise damping - mine fell off the Fabia while I was driving along and I didn't bother replacing it
