If i put more revs on i get wheel spin .Its great when im moving but what worries me is if i stop on a hill when its wet i may not get going again .Has anyone had a similar problem

Grateful for any advice .My caravan is not particularly heavy

Its a 1.9 turbo diesel .cant remember what the nose weight is but i know its within the recommended figures

I think he means: what is the hp output on the engine? 115 hp? 130hp? etc. Sorry if i have totally misunderstood.

130bhp sorry

I have towed well over the rated weight of 1600kg using a 2 axle trailer (on private land). I frequently tow about 1300kg on the road using the same trailer.

My Superb has a standard AWX engine with a 5 speed (GGB) manual transmission.

The Superb has many faults which I frequently moan about, but its towing ability is not one of them. Its long wheelbase, high nose weight (with the engine stuck out ahead of the axle) and high engine torque make it an excellent towing vehicle - which is why I bought it.

The nose weight also gives it stability when unhitched on motorways - which is another of its jobs. It's a useless car in town or on bendy roads where it wallows like a pig and understeers in a most unrewarding way. I accept this, as it's not the job I bought it to do.

Before buying the Superb, I did try my trailer on a diesel Passat (same car, shorter wheelbase) which had an auto box. This was quite useless with a heavy trailer and just bogged down when pulling out of an uphill junction when loaded. The downshifts were made too late when slowing to give adequate manoeuvrability and the fuel consumption was absolutely dire.

I rate the PD 130 Superb as an excellent towing vehicle, even with standard rear suspension.
