RS8 Alloys

Featured Replies

Quick question, I've been offered a stupid price on a set of 18" RS* style alloys (I know the car and the owner of the wheels and they're not stolen before you ask). the question is will they fit on the Monte? I was thinking of 224/35/18 tyres would these cause any issues?

Worth checking an online rolling radius calculator but I suspect their will be a significant difference. I'd also be worried that combo will increase wheel weight a fair bit blunting performance and handling.

Are they PCD 100 fitment?

The weight wont be much of a problem either

They are very big TBH and its 225 35 18 not 224 35 18

if they are genuine, then they aren't going to fit as the PCD will be wrong. Your Fabia is 5x100, whereas the Audi A8/S8 is 5x112.

There is no such thing as the RS8 by the way, there are only the A8 and S8.

18" wheels don't really work on the Fabia, because you need to use such low profile tyres, handling suffers and the wheels just look weird. Stick with 17s, and the car will look great.

225/35 are too big on the sidewall, You need either 215/35 or 225/30 (can you even get this size). The size after the / is a percentage of the tread width, so a 225/35 has a taller sidewall than a 215/35 tyre.

As to the Tyre size.

The Fabia vRS is put out on 205/40/17, same as a Monte.

(215/40/17 works fine on a vRS and even 205/45/17 causes no problem, that is slight larger than 225/35/18)

&

the Twincharger SEAT, A1 & Polo are on 215/40/17

The A1 Special Edition Competition Line with a 122bhp engine gets fitted with 225/35/18,

*That is a 6 Speed Manual.*

and these are a fine on a vRS DSG, and has little effect on the gearing being little of a difference in Rolling radius/Diameter. (Rubbish handling tho IMO)

Down to getting wheels with the correct PCD.

You may well not like how the car performs on those tyres, you are only going to find that out after going to the expense of the trial.

PS, I would think its worth finding out exactly what you are being offered as they might resell quite easily.

Defo wrong PCD...otherwise I'd be stealing the wife's Golf spare wheel... ;-)

my friend had them on his R32, just clarified with him they are replicas, so have multi fitment

If your friend will let you try before you buy you are sorted.

No fit or do not like what's lost, just an hour of your time

this is a good time to get your Monte Wheels off & give things a check over anyway.

oops typo

Where?

Where?

I think you are referring to this:

Its obviously just a typo I would have thought.....

Thanks Tom
