oil in intercooler pipe and EGR valve

Featured Replies

Hi.....

i noticed yesterday that my skoda will only rev to 2800rpm, it drives ok and everythings sounds fine. When looking under the bonnet their is oil coming out of the EGR valve gasket and running down the side of the block, from underneath there is oil on the joins of the lower intercooler pipes, i cant see any oil on or near the turbo and my fuel consumpsion is way down, around 38 - 42 mpg.

My gut feeling is that it is the turbo and it will need replacing, but if anyone else has any ideas that would be helpful.

the car is diesel and has done 132'000 miles approx, 2010 model and is my taxi so i do about 1'000 miles a week.

oil i use at service is valvoline 5w 30 fully synthetic.

thanks

sounds like your whole EGR is probably clogged with crud. get it all off and cleaned out, dont soak the EGR though
