First service.

Featured Replies

My Vrs just had its first full service after 10,000 miles. The car is driving a lot better and there doesnt seem to be much rattles or squeaks now. However there are a couple of things bugging me.

1.How can it cost nearly one hundred pounds for labour.Maybe i should be a mechanic if you get

30 an hour for labour is very cheap renault used to charge 60 + depends on dealer tho

The screenwash is a special type as you don't have normal jets. The fabia uses a fan system and normal stuff just bubbles up in the fan and could block up. Do a search if you aren't 100% sure what I mean.

Oh and don't let dealers clean the cars, they may put it through a car wash and help ruin you're paint, do it yourself and it'll look so much nicer

And a Renualt would be in all the time for repair

Well thats softened the blow a wee bit. What really makes me want to freak out though is the washer fluid and silly things like "Plug x2".What the hell is that!I didnt think i needed a plug before i went in.I will need one the next time so i can put it up my **** to stop me getting shafted again.

Plugs that they mean are use once items and so will be needed next time too.

Its a bit late to complain now; you should go through the bill with the service advisor first before paying.

Why not buy a genuine oil filter from the likes of ECP or GSF who may also sell the genuine Quantum PD oil cheaper than the dealer.

European law now forbids dealers from stopping you using spares of equal quality on your vehicle, so you could also supply the other filters as long they were good quality, ie MANN, Bosch etc.

I bet the oil price on the bill was over the top as well compared to the oil sold in the dealer parts dept.

Some dealer computer systems also add a percentage of the bill on as 'sundries' to increase profit.

Nissan too charged

I recently found that the 'Dealer' tops up and charges for the screen wash even when its full ......

Just tell them when you book it in, that you don't want screen wash :P

My dealer tops up the screenwash and puts what is left in the boot, or a full bottle if the screenwash is already full.

How much did the service cost? I'm due my 10k service in about 600 miles and as it's only a lube service I'm not expecting it to cost that much.

Keltmoss, thankfully I only ever had to get mine serviced once. I got my 10k service (which I might add was after 6 months of having the car - I later find out on this site that they should not be charging full whack for a service on a 6 month old car anyway) and was charged

Mine cost about 70 quid I think :D
