help a newbie please!

Featured Replies

hi everyone iam a bit of a newbie to the skoda world. and I have just purchased a skoda Octavia vrs 180bhp 1.8 t 20 v. on a 2004 plate. got it cheap as it needed some love although its now looking good iam experiencing a problem and hoping someone could point me in the right direction. iam not shy to working on cars so not afraid to get stuck in. car starts and runs sweet with no smoke no lights on dash i.e ecu and idles smoothly. but when you drive it sometimes it just looses all power and dies but if you turn the ignition off and re start it. it will drive off like nothing happened. there are no faults or codes showing on the ecu so I can only assume that it is a mechanical problem not linked or monitored by the ecu. has anyone experienced this before??? as iam struggling with this one.

You may wish to try the Octavia I forum.

Sounds a bit like a dodgy earth or some sort of loose connection
