Confused Fitting Cruise Control

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

Decided to fit my CC this morning. Started off following this guide...

http://web.archive.o...ntrol-retrofit/

All went well until i came to this section.

Now we need to make some connections, firstly cut all of the terminations from the end of the cruise loom – these aren’t required for this method. What!!! Just totally cut the end off all my wires from the new loom.

We will be joining in the yellow pre terminated wires to the existing loom prior to fitting them in the plug. What pre terminated wires. There are no yellow ones either. Silly question as well but what existing loom. Pics really would help here.

Take two of the yellow pre terminated wires, cut the ends off to about three inches long, strip back and crimp an inline crimp to each. Ok

Crimp the two black/yellow wires and the white 0.35mm wire from the engine bay into one end of a yellow wire you’ve made up as above. What black/yellow wires, where from.

Would be ideal if the photos in the guide were working but their not and I'm stumped now.

Thanks in advance.

5 x Wires 000 979 131

These are repair wires and are usually yellow. They are 1m long and have a pin crimped to either end. They are not part of the kit

So i have to make up there wires do i.

Where do i get them from. I cant believe i missed this when i orderd the kit and read he guides.

If you have the kit you don't cut any wires, you just need to plug the white one into either an extended wire to ecu or pin behind the clocks.

You can get them from a dealer (in theory from TPS as well).

I extended the white wire through the bulK head and into the ECU. Thats all done.

All my work now is in the drivers foot well. So what do u suggest i do now mate, is it just a case of joining my extended ecu white to the white wire out of my new loom and thats it. What about the others from the new loom. Where do they go. Thanks for your help aswell.

This is the kit i bought..

one block goes in to the convenience control unit just above the throttle pedal then the smaller plug goes on to the brake light switch . then you just extend the white wire to the ecu.... few guides on here and ill try to find you the link to the one from vw teeside

oh and halfords do some twin core thats the right size for the ecu wire and costs under £3.00

Awesome, thanks for getting back to me. I've manage to work it out now but that guide in the link is how i done it. I just need to find someone now with VCDS to activate it lol

lol when i did mine i plugged the 2 plugs in and just cut and soldered in the white wire .... seemed easiest way .... you might be able to blag some one near you on here to activate it for you .... there is a members map somewhere showing people with vcds

id put an ad in there :) a few beers will probs be cheaper than local garage prices

Haha i wudnt know how much to give someone, i'm not the best like that. I may just buy it myself, just looking at it now and seeing if i can use my Gendan KKL cable with it, dont think i can though.

it will cost around £20 at an indy or around £40 - 50 at a dealer .... £200+ to buy software alone

VCDS-Lite is free and will work with your Gendan KKL cable. AFAIK, it will enable cruise control.

Really. I'll have a look now.

I've just seen your other post. You can do the steering weight with VCDS-Lite. Open 44-Steering and record the coding.

The coding will be in the form nnnnxn where x is the steering weight (1 is lightest, 5 is heaviest). 7-Recode and change the coding.

Do you mean 'soft coding'. I only have 4"5 numbers in there not 6 ( i assume u mean thats when u say nnnnxn)

Yes, the second to last digit should be in the range 1-5. Leave the other digits alone. If it's 99959 and you want to set it to the lightest, recode to 99919.

Goog God man your a genius. I now have CC and my steering is lighter. I really can't thank you enough. Awesome. All i need now is to have all my doors open off 1 click rather that 2 but i can live without that now that i have CC and lighter steering. Thanks to everyone

This is from memory, so it might not be right for the doors...

Open 46-Convenience, record the coding. The coding should be an even number. Add 1 to it and recode.

Soft code is already even. Its 00066

Soft code is already even. Its 00066

So add 1 to it. Recode to 00067 and it should work

Just so no one gets confused that's not the convenience ECU it's the central electrics ECU

And the genuine kit from Skoda with full instructions is around £60. The guide above I wrote with Stuart and BigK iirc is some 10 years old now and the need for repair wires etc is no longer required.
