... SWMBO has decided I have to sell the MGB, which she has always refused to drive because she can't get the seat adjusted comfortably, so that she can have a fun car for the summer. At least the colour almost matches the Yeti. MG off to a classic car auction next week.

I am told (by she who names all our cars) that it is 'Bella the Beetle'. I have learned that names generally have to be alliterative, but may also have other connotations. The last 3 letters of the reg plate are 'LBV' which SWMBO informs me stands for 'La Belle Vie' ... hence 'Bella'. The MGB was "Blodwen" ... Blodwen the B, but we bought her from a bloke in South Wales, hence the Welsh name. We've had Polly the Passat, Vera the VR6. Vicky the Volvo, Sexy Susie Sprite and "that sh*tty Subaru" among many others. We once had 'Bessie the Beemer', and in the same way that her highness has decreed that 'LBV' is 'La Belle Vie' I tried to make something of the letters on its plate, 'MBJ' ...'morning b**w j*b' ... caused me a lot of pain that.

Oh yes ... my guide to perfect married life (being on marriage number 4 I speak from considerable experience, one learns most from one's mistakes): whatever she says there are only 3 acceptable responses.

1. "Yes dear".

2. "Sorry dear".

3. "Doing it now dear".

NEVER, EVER ... "No dear".
