1st service done

Featured Replies

the superb went in for its first service this morning at 10:30. Went to Henry's Skoda Glasgow and done a top job. Met one of the other taxi drivers just as i was walking checking in he was bringing his rapid in for its 10K service, mine is at 18970, was talking to the guy who sold me the car telling him how i got on, when i booked it in this morning the receptionist asked if there was anything i wanted checking out, i told him sometimes there is a whine when starting but doesn't happen under load or just revving it only occurs while starting, anyways i went into town and got something to eat, and then got a taxi back to the garage and then talked to the rapid taxi driver for a bit. and looked inside the octy III (which i must say is very nice), i went to the desk as the man shouted me over and gave me the bill (£120) very good i though, he then told me the noise was found, they suspect the starter is faulty but are not a 100% sure, so i have to go back next Thursday, they will get it on the ramp look around and if it is faulty they will replace the starter under warranty. But the price was good

Clearly there's a better class of taxi north of the boarder... we have a collection of beaten up pre FL Octys and either van type french things or mitsubushis (must have been a job lot on these I guess as they're all red)

Looks like you're diong a fair few miles too if you've got an 2013 62 plate! Hope they sort your whine out and as you say 120 was a good price.

if the council find out your taxi is damaged up here and you don't get it repaired they give you into big trouble and can even take your plate off of you until the damage is fixed, yeah its a little whine off the starter when starting but doesn't happen all the time its intermittent, he said i'm not the 1st with a 1.6 TDI CR to have this noise, and even a few 2.0TDI'S have had it too, he thinks some of the starters are faulty. and my annual millage is looking to be 40,000

United 11,

Was your first service just the oil and filter change and is it on a varible or fixed?. Mine is due soon and I have been quoted £170 (oil is £70, which I have got from "Opie" for £38 so will supply to the dealer)

its in variable and yes it was the oil and oil filter and sumplug plus some cleaning agent, i got it at £120 as i am a taxi driver and my god the ammount of taxis in getting services was crazy, must have been 12 or something all waiting in bays to go in, i wanted a service last week but this was the earliest appointment i could get

I hope Skippy didn't bend your ear too much.

Obviously the joys of living in the South, my first variable service was something like £230
