2.0 CR LONGEVITY

Featured Replies

Hi all,

As the title says, I'm starting this thread to get peoples opinions on how they view the 2.0 CR as it advances in age. What are your thoughts on how it will last into big milage (200/250K plus) obviously with proper servicing (and I don't advocate 18K oil changes, 10K max for me). Presumably, DPF's will have passed away by that milage, but otherwise are these engines built to really last?

All opinions very welcome ...

Many thanks in advance,

Rob

I hope so, I've just bought one with the intention of running it until it dies.

It's currently on 14K and I average 30K / year.

I need it to last a minimum of 5 years without major expense by which time it'll have covered 165K.

I covered 143,000 miles in three years with an Audi A4 2.0 CR, the 143bhp version, it used no oil, it never failed to start, it was always "well used", combination of A road, Motorway, towing a 1500kg caravan and all the other day to day stuff family cars have to do, service regime was long life and all done at Warrington Audi.

I can honestly say the car was more pleasurable to drive with 80K+ miles on the clock than when it was new, gear change was much slicker, engine revved freely and so on. The only downside was the clutch, if the car had stood for a couple of days without moving the clutch would judder on first use, reversing out of the drive and then first gear moving off, once running it did not do it again, that car must still be out there as I have just checked on MID database and it is insured, that was two years ago.

I now have the Yeti, it will be two years old in August and that has 84K miles on it and in my opinion is just in the sweet spot, everything is nice and free, revving and running smooth, power is still full on and the shine is appearing on the steering wheel, another 13 months with this car.

All I can say is from what I have seen, no issues, no problems and you should see the same faultless reliability from a great car.
