Rear wiper refill

Featured Replies

Bought a new refill rubber to go into the rear wiper (about 3 times too long) but I cannot work out how the end pieces come off to slide the new rubber in.

Anyone any idea?

I take it they aren't metal tabs that bend then, Graham?

No, there is a plastic bit over the end and I can't see a way of getting it off.

TBH the I thought I was buying a complete new blade, not a refill.

Try pulling off the plastic ends with some pliers. If the locking tabs breaks, you can use a tiny dash of marine sealant to glue it in place. Did this on one of the Octavias front wipers. Where did you get the refill rubber?

Auto Poweronline

Via Amazon, cost £3.50

TBH I misread the advert.

Now awaiting their response to a rerquest to return it as I cannot remove the bits of the Bosch wipers to fit it.

(they also sell on ebay!)

I cannot remove the bits of the Bosch wipers to fit it.

That probably explains it. With the original wiper you can hook the metal springs which hold the refill in the wiper using a flat head screwdriver and pull the plastic bit off (may be a bit tricky).
