Misfiring

Featured Replies

Hi,

i have a 2001 Octy Vrs, it is not firing on all cylinders, running really bad, i have changed the coilpack, MAF and spark plugs but it is still not right, its not bringing up any warning lights either which is confusing, but its not running right.

anybody got any advice,

i need to get somebody to read my faults, but i don't know anybody locally, Devon.

any help would be appreciated

Chris

Most likely cause is still coilpack failure check with your local main dealer as there's a free replacement of coilpacks running on some VAG cars. Did you replace the MAF with a genuine VAG part? Aftermarket MAF's are notorious for not working correctly.

Yeah I replaced it with genuine MAF, what do I ask at the dealers about the coil pack?

If your car has had the recall work carried out, all you'll need is probably your vin number and they will be able to tell you.

There is a thread floating around that will help you br able to tell yourself by looking at the part numbers on the ones you have but on my phone so cannot link to it very easily

It's not uncommon for the coilpack wiring loom to fail.

You can pin down whether you have a failed coilpack by unplugging coilpacks one by one & starting the engine, if unplugging one of them doesn't make a difference thats where the problem is.

Most early mk1 VRS's are covered by the VAG coilpack recall so phone your local Skoda dealer & ask them if your car is one of them. They will normally book the car in to check & replace free of charge if you have the effected version fitted.
