Can't open drivers door

Featured Replies

Please help, drivers door wouldn't unlock for a couple of weeks (climbing in through passenger door).  The other day it did open so I removed the door panel, the release cable isn't broken.

The door is now stuck again with no panel and no window switches, air con needs re-gassing so very hot at the moment.

The key fob and internal unlock button cause the door lock mechanism to make a noise as if its trying to unlock, this happens twice every its pressed.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Update,

The door has been working fine for three days and is now locked again.

Am I right to assume the wiring isn't a problem as the lock always makes a double click noise?  In which case I need a new door lock mechanism.

Its a 2006 Octavia estate.  The inner door pannel is rivited on.  Is it ok to drill these rivets out to get access to the loch mechanism?

Thanks for reading.

Sounds like a problem I had on my MK I and the Central locking motors went kaput. Unfortunately I'm not sure about the MK II's so I would recommend getting a local mechanic to check it over. May just need lubricating.

MK I's were so much easier as they didn't have the inner door panel, just a plastic splash guard.

Hopefully someone else might have a better idea.

Ok I've found the problem.  A small yellow wire was completely broken in half.
