Key Fob wont work after battery changed

Featured Replies

Hey guys, as the title explains really.

I changed the battery on my Fob as the light had stopped flashing and the central locking wouldnt unlock.

I can still unlock and start the car with the key its just the remote side that doesnt seem to work now which is rather annoying. The red light has stopped flashing when i press the button as well.

Will it be something to do with needing it reset to give out the correct code to the car? I know the fob can change its code sometimes when batterys are changed.

any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Try either;

1) Unlock the car with the key then press any button within 20 seconds

OR

2) Turn the key in the barrel and keep it there while pressing the corresponding button for a second (ie if turning left to lock, press lock button etc)

HTH!

If you can open and start the car it already has the code, I had this problem a little while back and turned out to be the buttons had broken. Had to get a new key which is rather expensive if you go to the garage. Found a second hand one that was compatible with the car, put my key part on the remote and followed some instructions on how to program it myself. Very straight forward

No red light suggests either a dead (new) battery or something else awry with the backend of the keyfob. Do you have a second key? If so, relatively easy to pick up a new fob backend off eBay and pair it with the alarm.

Thanks guys.

I dont know what i did but i managed to get it working after taking it apart agian and fiddling with the battery.
My 2nd fob still doesnt work though which is annoying so i reckon its the buttons.

Ta ya'll.

The immobiliser and the central locking are not connected at all.  There is a little transponder in the key for the immobiliser and this isn't connected to or powered by the battery and buttons.  So one can work quite happily without the other.

Fair enough, I was thinking more with regards to programming the remote however, if he hasn't managed to get it working by doing the pairing still then I would assume that the remote is broken.

Either way then it might be worth trying to reprogram again before committing to a new key, I tried a different method to the one stated above however

Put the battery in the wrong way.
