went to try and do the reset as per the video and couldnt get the springs to pull back enough and couldnt get the plastic l shape to lock  left it as if i had not touched it  and now u go for first it thinks its reverse and wont go into second etc :(

You need to complete the reset correctly as you've effectively lost the default setting now.

When you try and push the lock pin in place on the gearbox, push down the shifter mechanism slightly and give it a bit of a wiggle.

will mention to my brother about that and see if he can get it to work as he is a mechanic so fingers crossed he can sort it just wish i had not tryed it now :(

all sorted turned out the locking pin wouldnt lock so found another video from diesel geek where you dont need to lock the pin and i think its reset to default and its all fine panic over lol!!
