Falling prices of new cars.

Featured Replies

I've noticed that Ford and Vauxhall have started a move to more realistic list prices for some of their more fleet orientated cars.

Volvo have also been doing it for a while with the Business Edition (that was still available to private buyers).

There will be less of a discount applied, but the price you (or your employer) will pay won't have changed much at all which is handy for anyone with a company car paying tax on the P11D value. I'm sure some private buyers won't be happy as they won't feel like they got such a bargain, but you can't please everyone.

Hopefully this trend will continue as it then makes it easier to do a fair comparison between cars.

Rep-mobiles have always lead to cheap availability of cars on the second hand market because all business user & lease cars eventually get sold as used cars.

This means even cheaper used ex-rep cars down the line in 2016/17

Ford and Vauxhall just have ranges of cars that no longer appeal to Private Family buyers walking in and using their own money to buy the families vehicle.

The actual truth is the price of new cars have been too high for to long because people and business have been paying the price.

The competition has caught up and are able to produce good models and the ones private individuals want to drive.

Lets hope Rep-Mobiles (Traveling Salespeople) cars are available for a long time to come.

Well equipped and comfortable but almost always looking like a 'Company Car',

well in the first 3 years anyway.

list price doesn't really matter anyway as silly discounts are usually available - its the gap to change that matters

But it does when not everyone is good at haggling, plus company car drivers pay tax on list and not the price paid.

Considering the mondeo and insignia are global cars, you would expect them to be much cheaper due to volumes and much more exciting both inside and out.

As in no "my first radio" huge buttons and ugly blanking panels in the mk4 Mondeo compared to VAG or any other brand.

 yeah, point taken
