Turbo to intercooler pipe

Featured Replies

Wos fitting my new bigger down pipe today and noticed the join from intercooler to turbo is loose. So took it apart and cleaned it. But its still loose and leaking now. Will a new o ring and u clip solve the problem. Also anyone the part number. Cheers

Heres the hose im talking about.

Looks to me as though it may have just lost the U clip to be honest. may have been knocked off at some point. Very cheap fix if that's all it is, has to be worth trying before doing anything else.

If there is an O ring there then yes might as well get that too and replace at the same time.

thats the 1 dude :)  tip is turbo to intake isnt it?

My bad, I thought because of downpipe it was the TIP

Did the pick not give it away lol

That part now has a revised seal and is 100% better tps will stock

90% of all boost leaks I deal with are from there !!

That's exactly where I had my boost leak, cured by fitting a front mount, done away with that pipe.im maybye of topic but whilst servicing an 11 plate passat 2.0tdi I noticed all the boost pipes are normal hoses with jubilee clips,I don't know why they never done that years ago,lot less prone to leaks.

Sorted :) tps had none in stock but skoda did. Were looking near 60quid for it. But told him there like 40 in tps so got he gave me it for 46quid all in. Stuck on and a quick blast down the road and everythings 100%

I had the same problem,I used the seal from my ex fuel pump,is much thicker(fits perfect),and use some of theese (I don't know how to call them) to reinforce the connection,so it's not moving anymore

How come silicone boost hose kits don't come with this hose?

I actually modified this part before tearing it all back out to fit a FMIC. So here's a very quick guide to modifying this commonly failed part....

Remove both the turbo downpipe and the rubber pipe connected to it in your picture that would then go on to connect to the pancake pipe.

Now you should have two parts in front of you

Saw off both the metal ring on the end of the rubber pipe and the area of the downpipe that it would clip into, If you want to be particular when you've chopped the end of the metal pipe off you can cut lots of little slots and bend them back on themselves to create a flange too.

Now order a hose joiner that will push into your rubber pipe and a silicone reducer pipe that will take you down in size from the metal pipe to the hose joiner.

Push the hose joiner into your now chopped rubber pipe, then the reducer onto the joiner, then the freshly cut metal pipe into that!

Raunch it all up nicely with some jubilee clips and the problem will be gone forever.

Simples.

Unfortunately I did this a long time ago so cannot remember what sizes where needed to put this little mod together, but why skoda never did it this way to begin with I will never know. You can do as many people do and just replace the o ring over and over again, but this at least is a permanent fix to probably the most annoying boost leak!

If anyone else wants that in more detail feel free to ask me any questions!
