Brought a 58 plate Superb 2 1.8 TSI Elegance

Featured Replies

So I did it! I brought myself a 1.8 TSI Superb mk2 Elegance yesterday.

So far am loving it, the engine is smooth, pulls well (although needs a little more gearbox stirring on overtakes than my 140). It is very comfortable and quiet (apart from being an ex-smokers car but I am working on that and its not too bad). Columbus is much better than my MFD2, bluetooth is great to be integrated but being rSAP only has needed the Android-RSAP app. I need to change the module as I can't root my work phone to get connectivity.

Average 38MPG on the way home from Leamington Spa to West Sussex (Octavia TDI 140 brim to brim average over 4 years was 44.3MPG). That was mostly at 70MPH on motorway with some blasts in places (like Chichester). AC was on all the time with the heat and on hard.

I miss the cubby holes of my Octavia but i'm sure it will be fine in the long run and i'll find ways of doing thing.

Couple of things that i'm not sure about:

  • Seats are electric but they won't accept my new position into memory. I press set followed by a number and it just starts moving to the previous owners really bad set position
  • I need to VCDS some things (like rain sense windows on all the time) and wondering what cool things that can be done.
  • I don't have DRL/Fog combos; can these be retro-fitted? My Xenons are currently the DRLS and ideally i'd like to stop that if possible. Would this be too much work as missing wiring?

Thanks

With regard to your seat memory...make sure there's a `beep` after pressing `set` before you press a number.

Ah no beep :-( do I need to press and hold?

You shouldn't need to hold for more than a second or so. My `beep` is practically instant. Maybe you have a problem then.

Seat memory should be a case of press 'set' and a press and hold like Mike says.

A few less obvious things in VCDS: in the seats module there's a function called something like Easy Access. It does just that and moves the seat back and the seat back forward when you open the drivers door.

Also in the seat module there's an option to remember the heated seat level after you remove the ignition key. More for the winter months though.

It's been a while since I had my initial VCDS Superb look around, I just worked through every module and found all sorts of gems.

Is there anyway to do a reset on the seat controller!

Undo the battery for 30 minutes, both terminals then re-connect and tighten, hth.

I'll try a battery reset, done them on all my VAG cars until now! Should have tried that first. D'oh. I don't this k the dealer has done the spark plugs in the pre purchase service. Car has done 56k miles; should they have been done? No mention in the service schedule.

Don't mess with the wires under the seat as you will at best just get an airbag warning light on and at worst they could fire.

Another one to try:

How to reset the memory seat function relearn

Move the seat bottom all the way forward and then press the forward button again.  Tilt the seat front all the way down and then press it again.  Then tilt the seat back all the way forward and press it again.   This should enable the memory seat function.  It may chime 3 times.

if it still doesn't work then the memory seat switch needs replacing, had a similar problem with my octavia and a new switch sorted it, but a quick scan with vcds should confirm this

This didn't work at lunch. I will try a battery reset at the weekend and see what happens. I thankfully have a yrs Skoda warranty with the car so should be sorted under warranty :)
