some might say bland, others its understated

Featured Replies

Well, I actually spotted my first mkIII Octy on the road yesterday going the opposite direction in a 30 limit. One thing that struck me was how understated it seemed, which if the traffic police get their hands on a few unmarked vRS's they're going to have an awful lot of 'customers' It certainly didn't seem to be a 'look at me' car, which I actually like the idea of. Is it me or do others think the same......

It has bits that are flirty, but I like that I'd doesn't stick out

Are you sure it was not a rapid, they look very similar especially from the front....

I saw a car coming towards me a few weeks ago and my first impression was "wow that's nice wonder what it is ?", only to discover when it got close up it was a lovely white Octy 3 and it looked SMART !! very Audiesque from the front and back. Understated ??......personally from the front and back it looks lush, from the side ordinary. The simplicity of the design was deliberate as quoted by the designer as he thought too many changes would have meant too many potential mistakes.

it could well have been a rapid. I didn't get a long look at it as it was in fairly heavy traffic, just caught a quick look at the front end, the front grill and then the badge. I didn't get to clock it in my mirrors as there was some white van up his chuff. Just thought it was impressive in an understated way which I suppose sets it apart from all the bling cars that seem to be about at the moment

Yes we had a car in the mirror and I thought it was an octy but it didn't look wide enough and sure enough it was a Rapid. The Octy is a helluva big car when you see it on the road, its quite surprising.

I have to say that the "no nonsense"-styling of the Octy, especially in silver, reminds me of my Apple laptop. While many of its competitors are riddled with (in my opinion) unnecessary bits of styling on their bodywork, the Octavia has a more timeless look to it. It might look boring, but it will hold its looks better over the years.

Agree 100%. I still think the 2004 Audi A4 is the best looker and the Octy is very similar

To me it's understated (or according to my office colleagues trying to get me down as per usual, a boring grandad car) design is great, a real Wolf in Sheeps Clothing.

With a 0-60 of 8.5s in normal diesel guise a lot of the local chavs round here are going to get a shock when they try to race off at traffic lights in their 1.2ltr Corsas with a noisy exhaust ;-)

I'll take great pleasure in that when mine is delivered.

I can certainly see the Police round here adding them to the unmarked fleet. At the moment we have a Scirocco, Jag XF, Golf GTI and a BMW 5series as the local unmarked fleet.
