Yeti 1.8TSI 4x4 DSG stalled

Featured Replies

Hi All, First time posting. I purchase my Yeti about a month ago (located in Australia). Its the 1.8TSI with the 6 speed DSG transmission. I was driving it yesterday and it stalled at a slow speed while leaving a car park. To be honest, I am new to driving a DSG and from new I found it shudders at low speeds and lags at gear changes when I ask for full power. I will take it into the dealer but, any idea what it could be? Thanks in advance

It should not shudder at low speeds. MyDSG6 doesn't. Should be any different between a diesel or petrol with the wet clutch 'box. Get it looked at under warranty.

It should be smooth all the time.

G'day Yetitsi, and welcome!

I totally agree with Rockhopper.  It shouldn't shudder or stall.  At all.

Thanks for the help. Will be taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Think I may test drive another Yeti to compare just in case I'm making a big deal about how the dsg drives for nothing. Still worried about the stalling though which is what started making me wonder about the overall feel of the dsg. Will report back.

Hi Yetitsi,

Welcome and looking forward to reading a report from you about your Yeti that does not stall or shudder anymore.

I own a 1.8TSI with DSG, which has never stalled or suffered from shuddering at any speed, therefore I strongly suggest you get it checked out!

Must’ve been nothing wrong with the car then?

+1, a dsg car working properly can't stall as it will slip the clutch to prevent it.

The only reason for hesitation pulling away is if the engine has to restart first if it has stop start fitted, which I suspect yours does not? That can be easily controlled by turning off stop start in situations where you don't want the engine to stop.

You are reviving a few old threads in different sections, is there an issues with your car?

Lol yes how did you guess!

EPC light on, shuddering and engine light. About 78k kms, wife was driving at the time and doesn’t remember any early indicators

Having said that, some posts were never closed out with updates etc by the OP, which is frustrating

What servicing has been done, have the spark plugs been looked at & changed?

You need to have it read for any Fault Codes logged.

Hasn’t been serviced recently, due soon. Tight on finances so weve done the bare essentials only. Spark plugs not looked at, and I’ll see if I can read codes tomorrow. I’ve got one of this Bluetooth plug in gizmos for codes.
