Fitting 18" alloys?

Featured Replies

Has anyone here done this? Just wondered about suitability with the size and width. Do they fit OK?

You have an L&K? They have 18" alloys. Sorry thought I was on Superb two site.

I have one on at the minute as i have a flat tyre. Not sure what tize it is but its a fair bit wider than the standard 17".

Im running 18's bbs rs

225.40.18 tyres 8.5j width ET-35 front

225.45.18 tyres 9.5j width ET-35 rear

By the way I didn't had to do anything to the arches

18 fits with Superb but what you have to be careful with is for example the width

225 or 235 or 245 these size is most imporant

the matter of 45 or 40 or 35 is the thinkness of the tyre and does not matter.

The aspect ratio affects the rolling radius (speedo error) and ride height (handling and arch clearances).

Standard Superb offset is 32mm.  Going lower than 32mm will mean the wheel will stick out more.  Opposite true for going over 32mm offset.

The above is true if you stay with 225mm width.

But if you go 245mm for example, then staying with 32mm offset will cause the outside of the tyre to be 10mm [ =(245-225)/2 ] more outboard.

For the same outboard tyre position you would then need to go 42mm offset.

For more aggressive looks, a wider track can be had with lower offsets.

There a lot of Audi alloys available but they tend to have 40-45mm offset, which means you have to fit spacer rings or wider tyres, or both.

I had 19" with 235/35/19 tyres 9j wide front and back, lowered by 60mm and no problems!have a look at my picutures
