Getting some wheels using courier from Czech republic?

Featured Replies

I am looking at getting some winter wheels/tyres for the octavia, as there are millions of them in the czech republic sporting steelies and winter wheels i thought buying some over there and couriering them over here might be cost effective.

So has anyone ever arranged a courier form such a country to the uk? can yo reccomend a courier to use? How much is it likely to cost?

It appears there are loads of suitable sets on this site

A lot of them seem well priced so if i can overcome the language barrier and get semi reasoanble postage it might be a serious option.

Hmm, its not something I would do personally. If a tyre is damaged/worn out/not as described then you will have a hard time getting it sorted. I have had packages shipped to and from Poland for about £25 (they didn't seem bothered by the size) so there are companies that should do it for a reasonable charge.

Also, don't get caught out by the tread depth. Winter tyres are worn out at 4mm, then they just become normal tyres.

Try to have a look here  http://www.tetratrans.co.uk and here http://www.dolphi-transport.com . I personally never used them but a lot of people living here from Czech Republic and Slovakia are using them. They may be slightly slower than DHL, UPS or any other big international currier to ship the items, but they are much cheaper. Anyway, i hope it helps.

why do you want to go to the Czech republic for your order - on here in places you'll see the praises of www.oponeo.co.uk,a Polish company (do a search in forums),  who are as cheap as anyone - they don't use a courier but a normal transport company to get their wheels to us. I bought 4 Nokian WR D3s (225/45 R17s) at £111 each last year and they reached me no bother in  a few days. They do supply wheels as well. Have a look first before you go for your preferred way.
