Does anyone  know if its possible to swap a 2.5 autobox for a box from an AUDI A4 2.5 I am having grerat difficulty in trying to get a replacement (2nd hand) for my superb 2006my they seem to be like hens teeth ,mine now on 220.000 miles and i feel too old to re - condition much rather change fluid and seals on a decent second hand box and there seems to be lots of AUDI boxes about Thanks Rod

Im not sure it's that straightforward Rod.  Aren't some of the 2.5 Audi's coupled to a CVT box?

For a straight swop you will need the code stamped on the box should also be on the option label in the boot or service book, there may be others that will fit but the ratios etc may be different.

Many audi 2.5 autos are indeed CVT but I am pretty sure many are 5 speed tips too.

I think I would consider a manual gearbox swap it my auto ever failed.

It is easy enough adapting the ECU with VCDS and getting the pedal box from a donor car and manual boxes are easy enough to find.

Not sure about driveshafts if they are directly interchangeable.
