Brand new Scout with asthmatic/wheezy AC

Featured Replies

Hi- I'm new to the forum with a brand new Octavia Scout. Coming from an Audi A1 185 I'm really impressed with the economy and the space for my new born baby. The build quality appears to be pretty impressive on the whole, but I've noticed a wheezing rasping noise from the AC- it sounds a little asthmatic! It may be my imagination, but I'm sure it increases and decreases with engine speed, but disappears when the clutch is depressed. It will also disappear completely if I leave the Climate on but turn the AC off (ie ECO mode). Anyone got any ideas?

Other than that, loving the car. Because it came

from stock it doesn't have Maxidot :( and I will look at retrofitting Bluetooth. I did have my heart in sorting out the MDI, but the SD card system seems to work fine for my purposes. Economy is amazing for a big car, and refinement is super.

Thanks!

Back to the dealer at the first sign of any problems!  After all, you've paid for the warranty in the new price, so get your money's worth.

This sounds very much like the problem I had a while back. Compressor wax on the way out. It was replaced with the dryer under warranty.

The A/C on our 5 year old Scout is silent and always has been (aside from the noise of air blowing out of the vents!)

The A/C system on the MkII Octavia is a well documented weak point (albeit on older cars, not brand new ones) so better to get it checked out sooner rather than later.

The aircon on my vrs is making a similar sound. Warranty runs out in November so need to try and get it into dealer before then.
