First Skoda

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

New to the forum (as you can tell!) and wanted to say hi.  The first time I drove a Skoda was around 2003 when my flight from Edinburgh to Birmingham landed in Bristol and the hire car I drove home in was an Octavia.  I remember being pretty impressed with it, and as the flight was on Friday and I had all weekend before giving it back I took my (then) fiance out for the weekend and both of us really liked driving around in it.

Ten years later and it's the first time I've bought a car since.  It's been bikes and vans up till now, but my (now) wife and I are expecting our first child in five weeks (gulp!) and the tatty vans won't cut it. After testing a Golf Sportline and a BMW 318 I "settled" on an Octavia vRS that I'm picking up on Thursday.  And, so far, it's as nice as I remember.

Found the forum whilst doing my research, and it's already helped - got me cracking insurance with Chris Knott today that was far cheaper than most, and had all the extras that Admiral didn't.

So, hi everyone, great forum!

Ben

Welcome.

Congratulations on the upcoming new arrival, plenty of room in the Octy for all the stuff that goes with kids

You don't say if it is new or used, but the current vRS is a fantastic looking car. Rather too expensive for a Skoda in my opinion. If I was spending £24k on a car it would not be a car from a 'budget' make.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Congrats on the baby

It's a 2009 one, thankfully significantly less than £24k!
