It needs to meet the VW spec of 505.01 or 507.00 if the car has dpf. Though you can use 507.00 even if it doesn't have one.

Asia above. 5w/40 fully synthetic which also meets 505.01, or 5w/30 fully synthetic which meets 507 spec. If its in fixed servicing then typically the 5w/40 505.01 is used. If on variable servicing or if it has a dpf, go for 507.

You can used the 507 even if its without dpf and on fixed servicing, but the 5w/40 505.01 will make the engine run quieter, as the oil is thicker. I run 5w/40 505.01 in my fabia 1.4 pd tdi..
