Read Video Screens

Featured Replies

Just got a nice 11 reg Skoda, really good spec.

However to keep the pair quiet in the back we would love to be able to play some DVD from Columbus for them.

Went to Skoda garage and thought they were a little pricey

Does anyone have any suggestions or alternatives?

Is there an easily accessible AV out of Columbus to easily connect new screens to?

Thanks!

Cheap pair of tablets would work better in the long run.

I use a Motorola Xoom for my daughter and works really well. Stuck a 32GB card in and we have lots of movies and tv shows on there. You can pick up Chinese 10" tablets for less than £100 plus £15 for a holder.

We use an iPad with a £15 cover from amazon that also velcros around the metal of the headrest. Then download programs using the bbc iplayer app, which allows you to watch them for 30 days. Not sure if android allows you to download to watch later on the app - am sure someone will correct me.

Search for this item number on eBay: 370572491290

That's to get the video out signal, then you need one or two screens preferably with IR for cordless headphones and you'll be spending a lot more time and money to achieve less functionality and portability than a couple of tablets or cheap headrest DVD/console units.

I've researched it quite a lot and an stuck between wanting to do it 'because its there and OE' and the flexibility of the less challenging and more adaptable tablet option.

Go on You Tube and search for videos of simulated car crashes that show what happens to poor quality headrest clamps for tablets in a crash......…

You mean the nextbase vid? Ouch.

Can't remember which ones they were but remember being shown a few 'crash' videos on a driver safety talk for our students a few years back.

The one with a boot full of tools is pretty scary as well...

As is the one with the dog on the back seat I expect.

I'm sure I've seen either in the skoda accessories brochure or somewhere else video screens actually inset in the backs of the front seat. Has anyone got that in there's or know anything about this.

Or am I going mad ;p
