Hydrophobic car wax!

Featured Replies

My wife treated me to some of this stuff and having clay bared the car then used it, I can safely say its awesome! Spent an hour watching the rain not stick to the paintwork!!!!

I think it's basically a silica spray that repels water but adapted to give a high gloss shine for car use

FYI

Any pics?

Sounds interesting! What's it called / who's it made by?

Looks good :)

It sure does. Seems quite easy to use (fit someone not into detailing) but I guess not as durable as a wax paste. Would that be right?

Supposed to last 2-4 months but it only takes 10 mins to put on!? So it's a viable alternative

I've been using some Autoglym Aqua-Wax which sounds similar in principle, but I seem to be getting through quite a but of it too quickly!

Might give this a go as it sounds better and easier and about the same price.

Yeah it's good stuff spray it on once a month and I reckon it'd still last a year!!!!!

It's good as its silica based it brings up all the black trim, and when I did my wheels it also shined the tyres a treat!

Yeh looks like some pucker stuff!

I've picked up a bottle of Mantis instant shine from Sains, reduced to £5. Probably does pretty much the same thing & interested to see how it goes on & performs! ;)

Not sure whether you have applied correctly or the product has limited durability but I would expect much better beading. The "puddles" look almost flat meaning there is little protection from the product.

It should look something like this:

Is there any specific preparation required? What did you do once you'd used the clay bar?

To be fair I rushed a bit as I wanted to get it on before the rain came!

It only took 10 mins
