Amundsen+ no gps

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

The satnav of my Amundsen+ does not always get a satellite fix and I’m assuming the antenna is faulty.  The car is still under warranty and I assume the dealer would fit a new antenna. My concern is that they would need to drop the headlining to do the work and it would never be the same again.

I am wondering about fitting an antenna under the dash instead - they’re only £6 on ebay. Does anyone know if a security code would need to be entered when the unit is refitted and would I need VCDS to tell it about the change of antenna?

Any other comments welcome. Thanks in advance.

Mozart.

Hi! :)

No coding required. The unit just looks for "an antenna" not a specific antenna. (If that makes sense)

Should be no re-entry of security code required either. (Usually the security code is requried when the unit moves from one car to another or possibly the instrument cluster is replaced.)

If the Yeti is anything like the Octavia, you should be able to fit the replacement in a few minutes. ;)

Dropping the headlining and refitting it really isn't a difficult job. I'm no mechanic and I've done it on my Octavia estate and (apart from the fact its now black and not grey) you'd never know it had been out.

Don't let that put you off getting the antenna replaced properly. The reception is better with the proper antenna.

Mind you, this is only necessary if the GPS antenna is roof mounted. If the Amundsen was retro fitted the antenna may well be a cheap unit located under the dash. In which case the signal don't be as good.
