any of those new VAG engines are still reliable?

Featured Replies

I really like new estate 4x4 octavia but all these stories about engines problems scare me I have to say.

We know VAG don't produce anymore long lasting engines but if you were to choose the one engine which is the most reliable which would it be?

Petrol or diesel and then which one?   Can I still make 100k miles without mechanical problems or just 50k ?

Seeing as I have 50k on a 1.6 TDI/CR, and another poster has quoted 300,000 on Taxi 1.6TDI/CR's, without any engine incident or spannering other than routine servicing.

A resounding YES

"any of those new VAG engines are still reliable?"

Do you see the problem with your question? :)

And yes, a manufacturer will make sure to make really expensive items such as an engine with a MTBF (mean-time-before-failure) lower than the warranty it has. Makes for a brilliant business model. :D
