cr150 really loosening up at 9000 miles

Featured Replies

as title really.

Now got 9000 miles on and the engine has really loosened up.

Breathes well over 3000rpm- the power doesn't tail off.

Feels more than 150bhp to me

That's good to hear, how have you driven the car over these miles? Did you run the car in at all?

The 184 will be impressive so :)

Only got 1100 on mine but it's always pulled well past 4000rpm with no tail off in power.

nice to know it'll get better even though it'll take another 12-18 months to hit 9000 miles!

How's the mpg changed over that time?

I'm at 40mpg (urban ish) at the moment and 48 on motorways.

Gotta love DSG boxes, lazy to use but don't half gulp the fuel down.

nursed it a bit for first 500, then gradually ramped up the intensity, from about 1000 miles full throttle, from 2000 drive enthusiastically.

Manufacturing tolerances have improved so there is no longer a need to wear down rough edges and bearing surfaces, but best to gradually increase the stress on the engine over about 1000-2000 miles.

The way it drives now, compared to the way it drove in the first month or so, is like std vs.remapped engines- dramatically different.

Very impressed.

MPG has improved to about 52ish but I do a lot of motorway and A road driving and sit at 79mph
