Clutch replacement on SDI

Featured Replies

Hi, me again. My car has developed a slipping clutch and hence needs changing. Just a general enquiry as to what sort of job it is to do on the fabia SDI.

Any input appreciated. Ta.

Not difficult if you know what youre doing

Having the right tools helps. And someone to help jiggle things about when putting the gearbox back on.

If youre technically minded and capable you should be fine

At least you don't have to change the flywheel.

Well its been making a slight metal on metal squeeking for a the last couple of days as the clutch settles into its bite so I'm hoping it wont need facing.

Quite pleased. Phoned for a quote on parts today. Clutch kit (valeo), full timing belt kit (gates) auxilary belt and tensioner, water pump, oil. air and fuel fliters. £297 inc VAT.

Also got a quote of £100 to fit the clutch but will probably do it myself as funds are tight. Just need to check youtube or haynes manual for any potential hurdles..

Quick update as not been about for a while. Clutch change, cambelt and all tensioners, belts and waterpump etc plus full service in 3 hours with 2 of us doing it. Well pleased with that.

They do wear out, you know. Saying that my 03 SDI had done 152,000 miles when I let her go, but I'm very easy on clutches anyway.
